Working with MSF : Technical Logisticians

(Mechanical technician, Construction supervisor, Architect, Supply chain manager, Logistic supervisor, IT technician)


Responsibilities:

Often considered a master of all trades, technical logisticians provide daily support to all medical project activities. They are responsible for the maintenance of basic medical facilities as well as office and team lodging structures. They hire and supervise national staff in many key areas, including in the management of water and sanitation facilities and the vehicle fleet. They are also responsible for installing and maintaining communication equipment, feeding into security policy development, planning vehicle movement. They have frequent contact with local authorities and agencies, other MSF sections and nongovernmental organizations as required.

 

Basic requirements:

  • Minimum two years relevant work experience
  • Technical skills in one or more of the following:
    • vehicle mechanics
    • energy and electricity
    • information and communications technology
    • supply management
    • communications
    • construction
    • water and sanitation
  • Available for six to 12 months

Desirable criteria:

  • In addition to technical skills, having practical hands-on experience
  • Having some experience in bookkeeping and finance management
  • Knowledge of other languages, in particular French
  • Previous overseas work experience in humanitarian organizations
