Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines
Upon receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999, MSF launched the Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines to address and improve access to essential drugs for populations in danger.
The Campaign includes a range of operational and advocacy projects worldwide that are located in our field missions, within research groups and academic circles, and amongst civil society. The Campaign calls upon citizens, governments, international institutions and industry to shape and develop new global initiatives to address access to essential medicines.
MSF asserts that it is essential that the pharmaceutical industry contributes to the search for solutions. The world, however, cannot rely on industry alone to solve the public health crisis. Political leadership is crucial to ensure that research and development and medicines do not only serve the needs of the wealthy. As Canadians we have an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of millions. Now is the time for Canada to assume its leadership role.
