Medical programs in Chechnya

Following the wars of Chechnya in the early 1990s, the infrastructure of the Chechen Ministry of Health and that of the tuberculosis (TB) service were completely destroyed. Ten years later, MSF decided to launch a TB program in two pilot districts of the Chechen republic – in Gudermes and Nadterechnyi districts, as well as a surgical program. Currently MSF is running primary healthcare, TB treatment, mother and child care, and surgery programmes in Chechnya and a primary health care project in neighbouring Ingushetia.

* Please note that the pictures in the slideshow represent both the tuberculosis (TB) and surgical programs in Chechnya.
