MSF nurse recounts boat evacuation of war-wounded from Misrata
Audio interview with MSF nurse Alison Criado-Perez from the CBC program "As It Happens"
Alison Criado-Perez is a nurse with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). On April 15 she was onboard the boat organized by MSF that evacuated 64 war-wounded people from Misrata, Libya to Zarzis, Tunisia. Criado-Perez and other MSF medical staff onboard provided emergency care to 64 patients while the boat sailed back to Tunisia. Among the patients, 10 were in a critical state, three on mechanical ventilation and another three on oxygen, while another one was suffering from severe anaemia and needed a blood transfusion. The whole operation took place two weeks after MSF's first boat evacuation of 71 war-wounded people from Libya.
Listen to Criado-Perez speak with CBC's As It Happens about her experience on the boat.
