Philippines: MSF assessing flood-affected areas for potential emergency intervention
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are ready to provide emergency care to people affected by floods after tropical storm Ketsana hit the northern Philippines on Saturday. The storm killed 240 people and displaced 450,000, according to official reports.

In July of 2008, MSF responded to floods on Mindanao Island in the south of the country.
A team of medical and logistical staff are currently assessing the situation in Rizal, one of the most affected areas (close to the capital Manila) to decide how MSF can best offer assistance.
MSF is currently running a project on Mindanao Island, in the south of the country, providing medical care to people displaced by conflict between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
