Chad: MSF staff held by unknown group
An MSF compound in Adé, eastern Chad on the border to Sudan, had been robbed by armed assailants in the night of Aug. 4, 2009. One international and one national MSF staff member were reported missing.
While the Chadian national colleague had returned safely on Friday, MSF is deeply concerned that the other international staff member is still missing. MSF has received confirmation from different sources in Chad and Sudan that the missing colleague is held by an unknown armed group. The information received is that the aid worker is in good health and treated well.
MSF is in contact with the family of the staff member and with all relevant local, national and international authorities. MSF is doing everything in its power to ensure a safe return of our colleague. In the interest of the safe resolution of this incident we are currently not in a position to provide further information.
