Peru quake survivors struggle with psychological trauma

In Humay, Pisco and dozens of other towns in southern Peru hit by a powerful earthquake last week, people are struggling to put their lives back together. For the survivors of the quake, painful memories are resurfacing. Today, the provision of psychological care is a major priority for MSF.

Their home is a basketball court in the small Complejo Deportivo stadium in Humay. They are known here as olvidados: the forgotten ones. Their houses were destroyed during the earthquake which struck on August 15. Children, adults and the elderly
