On November 30, two months after Hurricane Matthew, devastated southwestern Haiti, thousands of people are still severely affected by inadequate shelter, lack of food and access to safe drinking water. Some remote communities have yet to receive assistance.

The international medical organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is working to provide assistance and medical care to people in isolated, affected areas like Port-à-Piment.

The largest cholera vaccination campaign ever undertaken has just commenced in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka. Over half a million people are expected to receive the oral cholera vaccine in an effort to curb an outbreak that began in February in the city’s overcrowded township areas. As of April 7, a total of 664 cases and 12 deaths had been reported in Lusaka.
