The international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been informed that MOAS (Migrant Offshore Aid Station) has decided to stop its current search-and-rescue operation on the Mediterranean Sea.

On Monday, June 15, at least one person died during a search and rescue operation by the Bourbon Argos, a ship chartered by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to carry out search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea. People who were rescued reported that another two people had drowned but their deaths could not be confirmed.

In the past three days close to 400 people have died while trying to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa to Europe, while more than 6,000 people have been rescued.
