Heavy clashes between security forces and armed opposition groups in the north-eastern province of Kunduz in Afghanistan have led to a surge in wounded arriving at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)’s trauma centre in Kunduz city. From June 20 to 23, MSF’s medical teams treated 77 patients directly wounded in the fighting; one-third of these patients were women and children.
