Dr. Bruce Reeder of Saskatoon was recently in Foya, Liberia, working to prevent the spread of Ebola by trying to figure out where the virus was most likely to go next. As he discovered, staying one step ahead was a vital and challenging task.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Canada, in collaboration with MSF Switzerland, has developed an online briefing on Ebola for health workers involved in the battle against the disease, in particular those responding to the current Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

 Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) takes the following steps to ensure the health and wellbeing of its staff and the community at large following the return of staff members from an Ebola work context:

  • If returned staff members do not live within four hours of appropriate medical facilities, MSF will ensure they are accommodated appropriately during the 21-day incubation period near a health facility.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is reassured that the new guidelines announced by Health Canada regarding Canadian health workers returning from Ebola zones in West Africa do not conflict with MSF's protocols.
