In recent months, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams in Serbia have treated an increasing number of patients who reported widespread violence and cruel and degrading treatment allegedly perpetrated by Hungarian authorities at the Serbian-Hungarian border. The international medical humanitarian organization calls on Hungarian authorities to investigate and take immediate action to stop these brutal practices.

The international response to Ebola in West Africa has so far been patchy and slow, and has left local people, national governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to do most of the practical, hands-on work. Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned today that the international community must not fail twice with a response that is slow in the first instance and ill-adapted later on.

The creators of Africa Stop Ebola, a charity single recorded to raise awareness about the outbreak of the disease in West Africa, have announced that all proceeds* from the song will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and its efforts to stop the spread of Ebola in the affected countries of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mali and beyond.

Some 70,000 refugees from Mali are living in difficult conditions in the middle of the Mauritanian desert, with ethnic tensions in northern Mali quashing any hopes of a swift return home. A report released today by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), called Stranded in the desert, calls on aid organizations to urgently renew efforts to meet the refugees’ basic needs.
