Gifts of Securities

Donating shares, bonds and units of mutual funds helps Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) respond quickly and effectively to health emergencies around the world.

Transferring ownership of securities directly from your account to MSF Canada’s account:

The information required to help your broker initiate the transaction is below. Please note that your broker cannot disclose your name without permission. For this reason we ask that you complete and return a Gifts of Securities Transfer Form [PDF: 21 kb]; completion of this form will not initiate the transfer, but will notify MSF that your gift is forthcoming so that we can ensure its timely transfer and receipting.

Additional Information:

Gifts of publicly-listed securities to charitable organizations are not subject to capital gains. Your official receipt for income tax purposes will be valued at the closing price on the day when the shares are legally transferred to MSF’s account at our custodial agent, CIBC World Markets. (Please note: Shares are considered legally transferred only when delivery is confirmed by our custodial agent.) It is MSF’s policy to sell all shares as soon as possible after they have been received.

Door and Sidewalk Talk

MSF joined forces with a team of Public Outreach representatives to talk about Partners Without Borders, our monthly giving program.

Our representatives are easily identifiable by their photo ID badge. Please be assured that any personal information provided remains confidential and will be used only for the purpose in which it was obtained. All donation forms, credit card or banking information are forwarded directly to MSF. Year-end income tax receipts for your cumulative donations will be mailed directly from MSF Canada in February.

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to meet one of our representatives in your neighborhood, you can still join the Partners Without Borders programme by signing up online. It's safe, easy and convenient.
